Of course you could also just use native reaper plugs and a little routing. All I really do with it is take the bass out of the sides. I did buy Acons Equalize and like it for mid/side stuff but again, it could totally be done with reapers plugs. Reaper+slickeq+limiterno6+span= pretty solid 60 dollar 'mastering' These mastering suites are expensive, and for the type of processing that really goes on with most of the casual/hobby type of artist, its hard for me to see spending all that on specialized software when reaper does it all just fine for 60 bucks. I sort of get out of the DAW environment and into the superior environment when I'm mixing drums.īut that's just a personal thing. I do that with drums, I mix for the most part in superior drummer. I've demo'd several mastering suites and I guess I can see how someone may like the workflow and having all the metering etc in one plug. I ask because I Don t Know it My thought is, and that what I do, the mastering stage has to be done by someone else, with fresh ears, good gears, good sets of monitors and, very important, an accurate room according to his monitor systems!!! With Reaper you can set a workspace specially for mastering (screensets.) with a track full height, the master track visible on one side, a big clock, a visualizer docked on the low part of the screen (or wherever you want.) so you can have it as you want to!!!Īnd you can use the tool you want (vst, outboard gears.). I tried Studio One for Mastering my song but it's useless : I mean ok you can use it if you want to master your tracks coming from Reaper but Mastering mode in S1 is made to finalise your workflow in S1 itself!! I still have Samplitude but I tend to fooget where it is on my start menu. If I get it right my answer will be unique (lol) : you don't need anything else to master your song than Cockos Reaper himself (lmfao)!!!
